Electrical Manufacturing Engineer

At Photonis Defense, Inc. our dedicated and talented employees are the foundation of our success. We have a full-time opportunity in our Lancaster facility for an Electrical Manufacturing Engineer. The Electrical Manufacturing Engineer will develop procedures, methods, and tools for assembly, testing, verification, and certification of the company’s electronic and RF/Microwave products. Responsibilities shall include, but are not limited to, technical oversight of production processes, commissioning manufacturing equipment, validating testing activities for RF/Microwave products, and analysis of integrated measurement systems. The individual will participate in the design verification of new equipment and contribute to preparing product compliance documentation. This position includes troubleshooting integrated controls and RF systems. Additionally, this engineer will develop efficient methods of assembling and testing electrical products and create and maintain work instructions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (and all other duties assigned)

Designs mechanical, electrical, or RF systems and piece parts, including RF devices and RF test equipment. Also, the engineer will work with vector network analyzers, signal generators, power meters, spectrum analyzers, RF circuitry, and other instruments to test new and existing designs.

Works with measuring tools, including calipers, micrometers, go/no-go indicators, optical measurements machines, or 3D coordinate measurement machines.

Develops test procedures for electromechanical devices.

Documents non-conformances in a production environment, identifying process improvements, and implementing process improvements through engineering documentation and projects.

Documents manufacturing processes with written procedures.

Skilled with precision machining processes (i.e. centerless grinding, turning operations or CNC machining)

Skilled with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)

Performs and audits intricate manufacturing processes to ensure the reliable production of traveling wave tubes and power tubes.

Performs incoming inspections on raw materials and purchased parts, and in-process inspections on parts and assemblies.

Provides support in any or all product lines based upon need; including day-to-day support for the assigned product line production areas. Off-shift work may be required at times.

Supports implementation of Lean Manufacturing, 6S, and SPC into manufacturing areas.

Promotes and Encourages understanding and use of the ISO 9001 based Quality Management System


Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in an engineering discipline required. Strong statistical analysis and SPC background preferred. Excellent communications and interpersonal skills required.
