Photonis Defense Awarded Initial Low-Rate Initial Production Order for U.S. Army BiNOD Program
Sturbridge, MA – 19 August 2026
Photonis Defense has been awarded the U.S. Army’s initial Low-Rate Initial Production (LRIP) order for the Binocular Night Observation Device (BiNOD) program, issued under the Army’s broader Indefinite-Delivery/Indefinite-Quantity (IDIQ) contract.
“Photonis Defense is honored to support the U.S. Army’s initial Low-Rate Initial Production of the Binocular Night Observation Device under the Army’s broader Indefinite-Delivery/Indefinite-Quantity contract,” the company said. “Our commitment to the American warfighter is unwavering, and we remain focused on delivering advanced night vision capabilities that provide a decisive operational advantage in the most demanding environments.”
Program Manager Richard Harrison, who has worked closely with the Army throughout BiNOD’s development and testing, called the LRIP award a significant milestone for the program and the team behind it.
“Having worked closely with the team and the Army to get BiNOD to this point, seeing the first LRIP award come through is personally very rewarding,” said Harrison. “This isn’t just another production award—it represents a shared commitment to giving our soldiers a better night-vision capability. I’m incredibly proud of the team and excited to see BiNOD transition from something we built and tested into equipment that will make a difference for soldiers in the field.”
As part of Exosens, Photonis Defense combines decades of global imaging innovation with a dedicated U.S. team committed to meeting the Army’s highest standards for performance, quality, and on-time delivery. Together, the companies remain focused on supporting the modernization of Soldier night vision capabilities and ensuring mission success for those who serve.
